How it works: When you speak the window closes. After you stop, a silent window opens for EVP responses. Adjust speech threshold so the app correctly detects when you're speaking.

Nexior · How to use

Sign in and investigations

Create an account or sign in with Google. From the hub, create a new investigation or join one with a 6-letter code. Share the code with your team — anyone who joins with that code becomes part of your investigation.

The Estes Method — how it actually works

The Estes Method is a two-person blind protocol that removes confirmation bias from ITC sessions:

  • Person A (operator) — opens Nexior, joins the investigation, taps Scan, starts a session, and asks questions using the ? prompt bar. They can see everything the scanner detects.
  • Person B (receiver) — opens Nexior on a separate device, joins the same investigation with the same code, and taps EST Receiver. They put headphones in and read out whatever large words appear on screen — without knowing what questions are being asked.
  • A third person (optional) records questions and responses separately, then compares them.

Nexior syncs the operator's detections to the receiver's screen in real time over Firebase. Questions appear on the receiver screen with a 10-second delay so they cannot influence the response.

Team monitoring

Any team member can open the Monitor screen to watch all investigators simultaneously. Each investigator's live stats, current frequency, and detection feed appear as cards. This works from anywhere with internet — a team leader can monitor from home while the team is on location.

Multiple investigators in different rooms

Each team member joins the investigation and taps Scan on their own device. They each run independent sessions. All detections stream live and appear in the Monitor. At the end, each person's session report shows their individual results.

The response window

  • Open (green) — listening for responses. The spectrum bars go green.
  • Blocked (amber) — you are speaking. Detection paused.
  • Cooldown — brief pause before reopening.

Listening back

Tap ▶ → Flagged Moments. Each flag has a 12-second audio clip. Tap ▶ Half speed to play at 50% — this is how EVPs become audible. Use headphones.

The buttons

  • Record audio to device
  • All detected words with EVP/phonetic highlighting
  • ? Question prompt bar — tap a question to log it and open a response window
  • Manual flag — saves a 12-second clip of that moment
  • Recordings and flagged clips with playback
  • Session card — shareable PNG summary
  • Night mode (red display)
  • Back to investigation hub
